About Skunks n' Roses
Laura Hambleton is the face behind Skunks n’ Roses, a whimsical and nature loving micro-tannery, specializing in leatherwork and based in Mi’kma’ki (Nova Scotia, Canada).
Laura started learning leatherwork in 2016 and then decided to jump in with both feet in 2019 – leaving her job working in refugee resettlement, and moving to Chiapas, Mexico to complete a 3 month full-time apprenticeship with her teacher and friend Romeo, a local leather artist.
All Skunks n' Roses pieces are designed and handcrafted by Laura, and inspired by local wildlife and critters. The majority of pieces incorporate personally and naturally hand-tanned materials, such as fish leather, bark-tanned leather, and other hides tanned by Laura.
